What is pulmonary rehabilitation?

USNWR High Performing Hospital - COPDIf you’re living with a lung disease such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), your doctor or pulmonary specialist may recommend pulmonary rehabilitation as part of your treatment plan. Our outpatient program gives you expert care in our facility and the comfort of returning home afterward.  

Pulmonary rehabilitation can help you:

  • Ease and better manage your symptoms

Pulmonary Rehabilitation sessions: what to expect

Get the exercise, education and personal guidance you need to be more self-reliant when participating in our pulmonary rehabilitation program.

Getting started

At your first session, our team will: 
  • Complete a thorough health assessment
  • Review your medical history
  • Talk with you about your goals, whether it’s returning to work, keeping up with family or moving through your day with less effort
     

Building strength week by week

After your first visit, you’ll begin a structured nine-week plan focused on improving both your overall health and quality of life. It includes: 
  • Strength and endurance exercise tailored to your ability
  • Strategies to conserve energy during daily activities
  • Guidance on nutrition, healthy habits and stress management
Sessions are held twice a week for two hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays at:
  • 8 a.m.
  • 10 a.m.
  • 2 p.m.
  • 4 p.m.

Continue your progress

Finishing the nine-week program is an important milestone, but it’s not the end of the journey. To help keep your progress going, we offer a self-directed rehabilitation program with continued access to our facility and resources. Sessions are available Monday-Friday at 6:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Insurance

Most insurance plans cover our nine-week pulmonary rehabilitation program, though details may vary based on your plan and how long you participate. To avoid surprises, it’s smart to confirm your benefits ahead of time.
