January 12, 2026
The Missouri Hospital Association elected Stephen Reintjes Sr., MD, president and CEO of NKC Health, as chair of its Board of Trustees for 2026. His one-year term began Jan. 1.
“We’re excited to have Dr. Reintjes leading the board in 2026,” said Jon D. Doolittle, MHA President and CEO. “As a physician executive, he provides the board with insights that shape both operational and patient care elements of policy that support hospitals’ service in Missouri’s communities.”
A non-profit based in Jefferson City, the MHA represents 137 hospitals across the state, advocates for members, provides continuing education and informs the public about key health issues.
As chair, Dr. Reintjes will oversee the board, advise the association on daily matters and represent Missouri hospitals before state and federal lawmakers. He will also lead the Missouri delegation to Washington, D.C. and serve as a spokesperson for hospitals across the state. During his tenure, Dr. Reintjes will help MHA embark on a new three-year strategic plan to create a system that helps hospitals thrive while delivering value back to patients and communities.
“It is an honor to serve as chair of an association that is making a meaningful impact across our state and nation,” said Stephen Reintjes Sr., MD. “I look forward to the progress we will achieve this year as we work to better serve our communities and advance our vision for healthcare.”
Dr. Reintjes, a nationally recognized neurosurgeon and executive leader, has been a respected and engaged member of the NKC Health medical staff for over 35 years. Reintjes has been a member of the MHA Board of Trustees since 2020.
