Your Pediatric Visits
We strive to make your pediatric appointments comfortable and efficient. Please review these important details to ensure your visit goes smoothly.
For your first appointment, plan to arrive 20 minutes early so we can confirm your registration details. For all following visits, please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled time. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If someone else needs to bring your child, written authorization is required.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
To each pediatric visit, bring:
- All medications your child currently takes
- Any applicable copay or coinsurance amounts
- Your insurance card
- Updated or current vaccine records

Prescription Refills
There are a few ways you can request a prescription refill:
- At your appointment - Tell your doctor if you’ll need a refill before your next visit.
- From the patient portal - Log in to the patient portal. Under My Medications, select Renew to request a refill.
- Through your pharmacy or mail-order service - Call your pharmacy or mail-order service for refills, and they will contact us for approval.
For any refills, be sure to request them several days before you run out of medication. We respond to refill requests during business hours, so it’s helpful to plan ahead.
Assistance Outside Office Hours & Emergencies
If care is needed when our office is closed, please call our main line at (816) 421-4115. Your call will be directed to our after-hours service.
The after-hours team will help address urgent needs, connecting you with clinical professionals or the Children’s Mercy nurse advice line as appropriate, and will notify the on-call provider for any necessary follow-up.
For life-threatening emergencies, always call 911.
