Saw Dr Ballard yesterday at Meritas Gashland through their urgent care. Walked in before 5:30 & his nurse took me in promptly. The roof of mouth is extremely sore. It appears as if it's been burnt by something but that isn't the case. He just kind of spitballed it & ended up saying he'd call in a script for a mouth rinse. If it still was bothering me to follow up my primary doctor or my dentist. Went to CVS to p/u the script. Unfortunately the pharmacist (no fault of his) wasn't able to fill because Dr Ballard hadn't written it completely. No indication of the amount I was to use. I figured this would be remedied by early morning but now at 2:15pm the office is still telling us that they're waiting on a response from the dr. What's the point of an urgent care visit if l'm almost at 24hrs past my visit & I still can't get any relief? IMO that isn't proper care or concern of a patient's pain or recovery.

Dr. Ballard is one of the most caring, attentive, competent, observant, and well-rounded physicians I have ever come across. He is simply incredible!

I will start by saying, this was not a regular office visit, we went to this office because they could get us in for an urgent issue. The staff was polite and helpful. However, from the moment Dr. Ballard entered the room, everything changed. He has the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. My son was in pain and asked Dr. Ballard to be gentle and he did the exact opposite. He dismissed us within 5 minutes and sent us on our way. He also ordered unnecessary tests. The ONLY positive thing I can say is, Dr. Ballard was able to give me a medical term for what my son was experiencing so when I went to the next doctor, I was able to tell them the correct terminology. I absolutely will not ever go to an office that he is associated with.
It was okay…the appointment seemed rushed and I felt a little judged on some of my questions about medications. Overall it was a decent experience.
I am not a regular patient of Dr. Ballard's, but I have to say that this may have been one of the best appointments I've ever had. I instantly felt welcomed by his medical staff. Dr. Ballard was personable and made made me feel comfortable. He addressed what I was there for and took it a step further by checking my most recent labs to make sure there wasn't something else contributing to the issue I was having. He ended my appointment by telling me he would be glad to see me again if I need anything while my provider is on maternity leave.

Dr. Ballard was my PCP for 4 years. All my health issues were poorly addressed by him. He will not listen to me but wants me about my preferences and make me understand lab results. He was so mean all the time. I he selective in being "GOOD" as others referred to him.

worst experience with a doctor, I was with my three children at Dr. Steven's. my oldest son, who is 17, has covid, he panicked so much and spoke from the corridor, he said that we are contagious and that we should leave, my son, who is 10, and my eight-year-old daughter were with me. he scared my children who were crying, he reacted very unprofessionally, if he is so scared he shouldn't be a doctor, he didn't say a single word of comfort or a single piece of advice, he just told us to leave the hospital
The doctor did not show any concern I told him my legs were weak they sent me right back to work the next day before the blood work even came back

Dr. Ballard didn’t listen. Number one rule, always listen to your patient. Ordered unnecessary antibiotic, labs, and referral. All because he didn’t listen to anything I said with my history. I would have been better off at the ER.

We have been seeing Dr. Ballard for several years now and have always been treated with excellent care and compassion. He has always given specific and individual care to me, my husband, my son and my daughter as they've grown up. My kids feel comfortable talking to him and we've never even considered pediatricians for them because of how great Dr. Ballard has been. I find it surprising that there is a review indicating he was short with someone; we've never noticed any such thing and it simply isn't in line with his personality at all. Anyone would be lucky to have him as their physician.

My experience with Dr. Ballard was not impressive. Saw him as a new patient for yearly wellness exam. He seemed rushed to get in and out the door, wouldn't look me in the eye, instead stared at his chart, the floor or laptop. He was so short and did not seem to be interested talking about my health concerns, which to me is very concerning as a new patient. He also loves to request you come back in 4 weeks for a follow up so he can spend 5 minutes with you, do nothing and bill you again. No thank you! I have moved on from this doctor and Meritas Health in general and could not be happier with the level of service I receive from my new doctor and their associated medical group.

Over the years, my former physician and I worked together to determine what medications worked best to provide me with the quality of life I need and desire. Dr. Ballard informed me he did not believe in this treatment and refused to continue with this known working course of action. This is my body, my life, and I am responsible for it. I was given the impression Dr. Ballard wanted full control regardless of my needs.
