Best Dr ever. He really cares about his patients needs.
I’ve been a patient with Dr. Spurlock for a number of years now, and I always look forward to our visits! Dr. Spurlock is an excellent doctor and seems to care about his patients well being, but also takes a personal interest in the patient’s life such as goals, vacations what positive future plans the patient has and etc. I couldn’t be happier with Dr. Spurlock’s treatment!
Dr. Spurlock invited me into his office where I felt safe and comfortable to express my reason for being there. He listened, offered feedback and created an action plan to improve my mental health. I’m grateful for Dr. Spurlock and his expertise.

I first became a patient of Dr. Spurlock's back in 2008 and knew instantly that I had made the right choice. I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable in his field, he is extremely caring and compassionate. Never once has he ever made me feel invisible or less than human. He has always taken the time to truly listen and hear me. Every chance I get when asked about who I see for my psychiatrist, I give his name and contact information. I highly recommend him. I can't thank him enough for what he has done and continues to do for not only myself, but others who are in need. I give Dr. Spurlock 10 stars!
Dr.Spurlock is decent for the most part, he does seem to be a bit sexist and bored with his job. He always lets me pick which medication I would like to try, and thoroughly explains every option. I like that he gives me multiple options and allows me to pick for myself. The office staff are nice and the wait to see the doctor is always very short too. The longest I have ever waited was maybe 20 minutes. However, I had to stop seeing him after he laughed at me when I mentioned my gynecologist thought I had PMDD.
I have been seeing Dr Spurlock for the over 13 years an never thought of changing.He is never in a hurry when he realizes how important a situation is to me. He takes very good notes asks me questions some visits that I forgot I told him. He Is more of a friend with a professional background than just a Doctor.

When I started therapy with Dr. Spurlock, I was in a dark, confusing and dangerous place. Dr. Spurlock led me to a healthy mental state with therapy. Refused care to my daughter who has bipolar and bpd because she had to cancel a couple appointments! Life happens! Everyone knows when a person with bipolar is cycling they think they are ok and getting them to go to the doctor or take meds is hard and she also can’t help it if her job won’t let her off even for a doctor appointment! First I’ve ever seen a mental health doc refusing care to a mental health patient for having mental health symptoms!
I've been a patient of Dr. Spurlock's for about 16 years now and even continued as a patient after moving away from the northland. His care is well worth my 40 minute drive. I've never had to wait past my appointment time, he always listens to and HEARS my responses when we discuss my treatment, and when I have questions about changes to medications, he presents me with all the options and explains the side effects and pros and cons. I have recommended Dr. Spurlock to many people and will continue to do so because he provides excellent, compassionate care.

I love having Dr. Spurlock as my psychiatrist, I’ve been his patient over a year now and it is always a great experience. I’m a nurse, so I’ve seen my share of condescending physicians…it makes people nervous to seek help when they need it. But Dr. Spurlock has a gentle calm demeanor that makes him easy to talk to, and he is always open to your feedback about what is working for you or what isn’t. He’s well informed, and super attentive without being judgmental or intimidating. I highly recommend him, especially if you’re nervous about going to a psychiatrist or seeking treatment. Dr Spurlock is friendly and willing to listen. She has helped me greatly with my ADHD and anxiety. He is always willing to consider other options and other medication’s as well.
I don't know what I would do without Dr Spurlock! I don't even know if he realizes this, but he saved me. I know I totally trust him, and that says a lot! He's the only Dr that was able to get my medications right, BUT he doesn't believe that medication is the answer to everything. I don't recall what I was going thru, and asking him to put me on, but he told me no. He told me to get out and exercise. That exercising, and what it does for us mentally, works faster, and is better for us than any pill. It took me off guard, but it made me have more respect for him than I already did. He has integrity, morals, and his patients best interest at heart. The support staff there, have always been kind, and greet you with a smile on their face as soon as they make eye contact with you. When you call in they're polite, and if you happen to get the voice mail they're quick to get back with you.

He was the first person to correctly diagnose my mental health issues, and in addition to treating me with medication, he immediately referred me to DBT therapy at a place that also drastically changed my life for the better. Dr. Spurlock truly listens to me which is not something I experienced with the various psychiatrists I have seen in the past. He seems to care about me as a person and makes me feel comfortable during our appointments. When I began seeing him, I was barely capable of functioning due to severe and frequent panic attacks.
