On-site health screenings

Host an on-site health screening with NKC Health’s Community Health & Wellness team. Preventive health screenings help individuals understand their risk for developing chronic conditions before symptoms appear so they can take action.

For a small fee, NKC Health offers glucose and cholesterol screenings through a quick, simple finger-stick blood test.

Glucose testing measures blood sugar levels in minutes and can help identify concerns with blood sugar management. The cholesterol screening provides a lipid profile, including total cholesterol, HDL ("good") cholesterol, LDL ("bad") cholesterol and triglycerides. These results offer valuable insight into cardiovascular health and can identify risk factors for heart disease and stroke. Together, glucose and cholesterol screenings provide a snapshot of important health indicators that reinforce early detection and prevention efforts.

Fasting is not required but is recommended for the most accurate results. Participants should avoid eating or drinking anything other than water for 9–12 hours prior to the screening.

For a nominal fee, NKC Health offers Type 2 diabetes screenings through a simple finger-stick blood test called a hemoglobin A1C. Unlike a traditional blood sugar test that measures the glucose level at a single moment in time, an A1C provides an average blood sugar level over the previous three months. This gives a broader picture of how the body is processing and using glucose over time.

A1C is one of the most requested tests for screening, diagnosing and monitoring prediabetes and diabetes. Higher A1C results may indicate an increased risk for developing diabetes and other health complications. Fasting is not required prior to an A1C screening.

Body composition analysis
Unlike body mass index (BMI), which is calculated solely from height and weight, body composition analysis provides a more comprehensive view of overall health with results in just five minutes. Using advanced body composition assessment technology, the scale measures key health indicators, such as body fat percentage, muscle mass, bone mass and basal metabolic rate (BMR). These measurements offer valuable insights into body composition, helping individuals better understand their physical health, track changes over time and make informed decisions to support wellness goals.

Blood pressure
Blood pressure, the force of the blood flowing through blood vessels, is a combination of two values, the systolic number over the diastolic number. Systolic blood pressure measures how much pressure your blood exerts on the walls of your arteries when the heart beats. Diastolic blood pressure is the pressure your blood exerts in between heartbeats. Regular blood pressure screenings are important as even small increases can increase the risk for dangerous illnesses and conditions.
