Every staff member who cares for me during my recent visit was caring and pleasant. Dr Reintjes’ father did a lumbar spinal surgery for me almost 6 years ago. Now that I am in need of additional treatment, I trust Dr Reintjes’ son to take equally good care of me.
I came to Dr Reintjes with acute nerve pain in both legs and hands. He was respectful and caring, hesitant to do surgery until clearly necessitated. After multiple tests, he performed a spinal fusion and I am totally free of all nerve pain…I am so grateful! And I always appreciate a doctor like him who actually listens carefully and takes time to consider you as a unique person and medical case.
The office and waiting room were very welcoming. Personnel was very friendly. Dr. Jeff Reintjes Jr. was very pleasant and easy to talk to. Definitely going back if my situation worsens.
I like that I’m comfortable talking with Dr. Reintjes. He’s very laid back and doesn’t blow you off like some doctors do to move on to the next patient. He shares images to explain what’s going on. I’ve referred him many times.

Cut me off in mid sentence and since I was feeling better said there was nothing more to talk about, ushered me out. He gave me no chance to ask questions about how long the procedure I had might delay surgery or anything else. If I need surgery in the future I will find another doctor.

Front desk staff greeted me and helped make accommodations for me not bringing my X-rays with me. I had minimal wait time in the lobby before being taken back to the room. Dr Reinjes reviewed my MRI images with me and help prescribe the least invasive plan to improve my health.

The wait was incredibly long (my appointment was for 1:00 & I was finally taken back at 1:40) I know I was not the only patient waiting but it gets tiring waiting so long. Other than the long wait my appointment went great, Dr.Reintjes listened to me and set things in motion to schedule my back surgery. He seems like a doctor to get things resolved.
We waited almost an hour before we were called back to a room.
He was consulted while I was in the hospital. He spent max of 1-2 minutes with me. I asked him if he had looked at MRI of my brain. He said .” No. I will and never came back and then lied on his documentation stating he had discussed with me. I wrote the CEO of North Kansas City Hospital a letter stating my concerns and never heard back.

My name is Tim Cole. I know that I can hide my name. Dr. Stephen Reintjes Jr, IS THE BEST OF THE BEST Neurosurgeons. Thanks to my back surgery he performed, I am back at my exercise routine again!! I am a very physically active individual and Mechanical Engineer. I jog, powerwalk, use the elliptical, do squats, lift weights (stopped heavy lifting in 3-2020), have done deep stretches from my 20s to now my 60s. I injured my back very seriously in 2021, helping someone move some very heavy furniture. I continued to regularly do my walking exercise routine, but it was very painful, and I also went to PT. I started having HORRIFIC twisting cramping nerve pain from my lower back to my left leg sciatica to my calf to my toes. Finally, when Dr. Reintjes evaluated me and saw my MRI report, he told me how critical my problems were and that 3 things in my back REQUIRED surgery. He said confidently, "I can fix that". I received a call from his office that someone had cancelled their surgery appointment, and I was asked can I come on July 1, 2022, for the surgery. I accepted. The next morning, July 2, a nurse was walking with me up and down a few stairs very carefully and I was sent home later that day. I meticulously followed Dr. Reintjes’ PT orders for weeks and walked the distances according to his orders. It was painful and I hated taking medicine and my wife thought I would never walk normally again. With Dr. Reintjes’ EXCELLENT SURGERY and guidance, I now power-walk again and I am up to 4 + miles at 3.8 to 3.9 miles per hour as of February 13, 2023, and I'm 64 years old as of this writing. I'm back to doing EVERYTHING I was doing exercise wise. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Stephen Reintjes Jr. He needs a 10.0 NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Too, his nursing staff were then and now, are ALWAYS courteous, available, and helpful to answer my questions. It is now 10/25/2023 over a year from my surgery. My view remains the same. He seemed a little rushed yesterday and did not have time to thoroughly explain the procedure. Did not explain recovery time or how procedure is performed, he did say radiology would call , which thiology woul call and set time for procedure
My initial appointment with Dr. Stephen Reintjes Jr. MD and his staff exceeded my expectations. The staff was knowledgeable, efficient and very courteous. Dr. Reintjes had viewed the 3 disks of films I brought with me before he introduced himself. Dr. Reintjes presented my options, after a brief discussion we viewed a previous MRI taken March of 2022,, which confirmed his diagnosis. His recommendation was what I wanted to hear. A procedure was necessary to correct my existing condition. Dr Reintjes discussed what would be necessary as we progress forward. A staff member requested an updated MRI, set a follow up appointment as well as a date for the surgery, I left knowing I truly made the right decision.
I am very impressed with Dr Stephen Reintjes, Jr. He listened to me and showed me why I’ve been having the health issue I’ve been suffering with this last year. He has ordered more tests and we’ll set up a plan for me at our next meeting in two weeks. He was kind and knowledgeable about my condition. The nurses and staff were wonderful as well. Awful office, this dr doesn't care if you are in pain, if your spine is slamming down on he nerves to your ams and fingers are numb. Also won let you see another dr in that building, apparently he doesn't trust his colleges. See someone else, with integrity.
I had surgery on 9-13-23 on L5/S1 disc. I am now 90 days post surgery and have NO pain down my left leg which had been severe. All office and hospital staff were professional and very kind. I highly recommend Dr Reintjes. His eval & explanations thorough & easy to follow!
This was an excellent experience. Dr. Reintjes informed my wife and me of his assessment of the MRI which I had before my visit. He told us that he did not recommend surgery. He believes therapy and medication are the way to treat my issues. If these do not work, I am to contact him.

Dr Reintjus is absolutely amazing! I had a spinal fusion of c6/c7 just two weeks ago and I could tell immediately after surgery that my nerve pain was completely gone! He even called me prior to surgery to answer questions and eased my mind going into this! I have had very little pain and they gave me good medication for pain control. I really can’t say enough good things! I am impressed with Dr Reintjus and his staff! His nurses answered my many questions and have been extremely patient with me because I have pretty bad anxiety when it comes to anything medical due to having a bowel perforation last year. I am happy with my outcome and really appreciate having one of the most skilled neurosurgeons in Kansas City as my physician!
Dr R did a major back surgery on me from T2-S1. So basically he fused my whole back. I’ve noticed each day I feel so much better. I able to bend without pain. I am able to walk without pain, my legs don’t hurt. I’m just amazed at his work. I feel very good, and will continue to work on getting stronger. Dr Reintjes is a very Kind and humble man. Praise God I found him. This was back surgery # 5. Thank you Dr Reintjes.

My experience with Dr Reintjus and his staff has been outstanding. I had surgery on my neck that has proven successful. During recovery I called the office several times with questions and was never treated like my questions were silly. Very respectful Doctor and staff that I highly recommend
Dr Reintjes did 2 surgeries on my back. The first surgery was to go in through my stomach area to my back to put in spacers. 3 weeks later he went into my back. I had severe scoliosis. This surgery was approximately 7 1/2 hours. He put in rods that were attached to my hips and go very very high up my back. Before surgery I couldn’t stand up and I could barely walk. NOW I can stand up straight and walk. It’s been 6 months. I can’t say enough good things about him. He gave me my life back. I can’t thank him enough. He listens when you talk and answers all your questions. He is simply an amazing Surgeon.

This doctor was recommended for me for spinal surgery but the office refused to see me because I’m self employed and pay for Ambetter Insurance. I was extremely disappointed that I could T see the doctor of my choice. When I asked why they won’t accept Ambetter they said they were hard to work with and hard to get paid. The county I live in only has 2 options for insurance and the other option was BCBS but had deductibles that no one could possibly afford!
After struggling for many months with lower back pain and nerve pain running down my leg Dr. reintjes helped me tremendously! Very polite and he thoroughly explained everything and helped me get back to my job at the hospital doing what I love! Thank you dr reinjtes!

I felt rushed and not understood. Pain pills and muscle relaxants after 4 years of pain requiring the use of a walker and/or wheelchair was very disheartening

I looked @ all the 5 stare reviews but I was not treated with any respect the woman I seen was condescending to me tried calling them meet with not caring very Arrogant doctor.
First time, new patient visit. He was unhelpful, unfriendly, acted like we were wasting his time, Offered no alternative and then charged over the level of what a new patient, first time office visit should be. Had to go back and forth with them and billing to even discuss it. I'm sure there are better doctors out there to help who actually care and aren't in it just for the money.

I saw Dr Stephen Reintjas for an issue in my lower back. The pain in my back had greatly restricted my ability to walk, do stairs, squat, or sit for any length of time. He was so good to work with me and inform me of all the options that could help. I chose to have surgery. Dr Reintjas talked to me before and after the surgery. He was very honest with me. The surgery required a twelve week recovery. One again Dr Reintjas told me what to expect. He also said if I had any problems or questions to call him. I saw him on Thursday February 23 for my last post op visit. I am happy to say that the surgery was successful not only from Dr Reintjas view but from mine as well. I am now able to walk without pain. I also ride my exercise bike at least 2 miles per day with no pain. I can squat, bend and do the stairs pain free. I am pleased with the outcome of the surgery. I highly recommend Dr Stephen Reintjas to my friends with back issues and I do it with a smile on my face. Thank you Dr Reintjas for all you did for me.
After been given the runaround by other providers Dr. Reitjas was very honest from day one! I was so afraid of spine surgery but Dr. Reitjas answered all of my questions and by the end of my appointment I had no doubt or fears. He is kind, patient and knowledgeable. He performed my surgery without incident as well as addressing all of my concerns afterwards. Dr. Reitjas has an excellent bedside manner and actually cares a great deal for his patients. I went to a neurosurgeon at St Luke's 1 1/2 yrs ago. for the same problem. He painted my future bleak with limitations on weight restrictions with what I could carry, or what I could do. The neck, arm, hand pain have continued and is contant. Dr. Reintges patiently listened to my fears, reviewed my ex rays, and explained the surgery, and most importantly that my life would not be hindered in any way.
I've only had one appointment with Dr. Reintjes and learned that I will need to have lumbar surgery in the next few months. While I do not want surgery, I left our meeting with a feeling of confidence in him. He was kind, caring, and took his time explaining what is to come and why. I've liked and appreciated my interaction with him thus far.
Dr. Reintjes gave me a pain free life back. I’ve have 2 previous back surgeries with orthopedic surgeons and decided I’d go to a neurosurgeon since it was my sciatic nerve giving me such pain that I found I couldn’t walk sometimes. Not only a MRI, bone density test and numerous x-rays before the options were presented. I would and have recommended him to anyone with back issues. I had an orthopedic surgeon tell me it was a miracle I could walk without a cane or walker.

My arrival was promptly acknowledged by the receptionists in Dr. Reintjes office, and I was escorted to a comfortable room soon thereafter. The nurse came first to do her interview and assessment, then the Dr. I was given the opportunity to explain what actions I have taken to deal with my condition and how I’ve managed the pain while living as normal a “quality life” as possible. I was reassured this practice would be on an on-call basis available going forward. Thank you Dr. Reintjes and staff!

From my 1st appointment to 12 week surgery follow up appointment, this week, I found Dr Reintjes and his staff to be kind, caring and informative. Dr Reintjes took time to explain everything thoroughly answer all questions. My surgery was a complete success. I am pain free and stand and walk fall, again. Every call I made to the office, with a question, was answered right away. The only drawback was waiting 2.5 moth to get on the schedule. I highly recommend the care and skills of Dr Reintjes.
I have been in severe pain for several years from Nerve Lablation to everything between. The nerve Lablation stopped working and I was sent to Dr. Reintjes and he put a cage in my 4,5, & 6, and changed my life for ever. He stopped the pain. He also has helped return the feeling back into my arms and hands by doing the same kids of surgery on my neck. Recovery has been a breeze and the pain minimal to a chronic pain patient. I call him Doogie Housers an old medical show with a very young doctor. Don’t let his age concern you he’s up to date on all the new stuff. I am sending all my family and friends to him.

Dr. Reintjes totally dismissed me after I told him I did not want to have surgery. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have had 14 surgeries already and was upset at the prospect of not only having surgery but a back fusion. Then after calming down, I tried to ask him questions about what the procedure would look like and he looked me in the eye and said, "why are you asking me these questions, you said you don't want surgery, so I will make an appointment for you in 6 months, and we'll talk then!" done! My Rheumatologist was so upset that I was treated this way he encouraged me to find a new doctor because I was so rudely dismissed. I saw the Doctor my Rheumatologist recommended and the caring and time this surgeon took with me was impressive. I would not recommend Dr. Reintjes, due to his bed side manner, to anyone. He is very uncaring and can be rude. I do not need that and refuse to see a doctor like that no matter how good he thinks he is.
I am a physician and very picky about my health care providers. I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Reintjes! He explained my condition causing my severe sciatica and loss of right leg function thoroughly, offered different surgical and non-surgical options, and prepared me for what to expect in terms of length of full recovery. I awoke from surgery almost pain free for the first time in months! After 6 months of diligent physical therapy, I was back to the weightlifting I love so much. Most importantly, Dr. Reintjes performed the most conservative surgery possible, because he know I wanted to return to a high level of activity (for a late 40-something!). The nurses and support staff were also caring and top-notch, offering support and answering any questions I had pre and post-op. I have recommended Dr. Reintjes to several people so far—including my own father—and will continue to do so. I’m one year out from surgery and now training for a Masters CrossFit completion! Hooray!
He did an excellent job. I had pretty much no aphasia, speech, or memory problems from the surgery. He knows what he's doing.
I first met Dr. Reintjes jr. when my wife scheduled an appointment to discuss her neck surgery. He explained his recommendation for surgery and why in terms we could understand. Dr Reintjes performed that surgical procedure and it went exceptionally well. When she was able to resume her normal activities I scheduled an appointment to review my condition. I had been diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis but after meeting Dr. Reintjes I wanted him to perform my surgery. He ordered some X-rays, reviewed my MRI, agreed with my previous diagnosis and explained what my surgery would encompass. Then he asked when I wanted to schedule surgery and I replied asap. My surgery was scheduled and performed a few weeks later. Dr. Reintjes reviewed my surgery the following morning and outlined my recovery. Six weeks later I started physical therapy. Four weeks after that I was able to resume my normal activities. It’s been 8 months now since my surgery and I feel great! Thank you Dr. Reintjes!!
Dr. Reintjes Jr. did an absolute fantastic job with my fusion in July. He is a great doctor and knows his stuff. I used to see his father and now I see him. If I ever have any more problems I'll definitely see him again.
I'm pleased to say after taking a head dive off my Rig split my head crushed my throat & nasal passages and broke my arm in 27 pieces and yet never stopped falling with alot of crying and pushing my way through Dr's, Dr Stephen L Reintjes in less than 15 minutes told me why and I can be fixed..... so Incredibly amazing I feel like victory has knocked on my door.
He did a surgery for my mom and was absolutely amazing. Cared for her well-being and really honored the fact that he wanted her to get better. I would highly recommend him.
Had the pleasure of accompanying a friend to a consult. Dr. Reintjes Jr had amazing bedside manner, very thorough, listened, asked questions to ensure full understanding, took his time, never made us feel rushed and gave multiple courses of treatment. He made sure we left knowing exactly what was causing the problem and with full understanding of what the next step would be. His staff is wonderful, very kind and goes above and beyond for their patients!
Doc is down to earth and will tell you exactly how it is what he will to do fix or repair the issue. Just had my second urgent surgery done and I am totally happy with his work.

He is a typical surgeon and has no bedside manner whatsoever. He yawned the whole time he was talking to me. He made me feel like I was wasting his time by being there and that he was bored with everything I was telling him. The nurse spent more time with me and asked more questions than he did. I've been a nurse for 40 years and have never met such an arrogant doctor.
I've had a great experience with Dr Reintjes, good luck, no pain, great surgery experience, if there is any one! Would recommend him highly.

Amazing! He is conservative with the knife. He relates to you and is a straight shooter. If you want to tell him what to do because you are a webmd expert find someone else.

Amazing!!! He is very straight forward. Doesn't play games. Honest. If you want a doctor to coddle you and sugarcoat you, he is not the one. But if you want someone who knows his stuff, he is an amazing doctor.
Dr. Rentjes has performed surgery on me more than once with great results.
I went to CVS last Febuary to fill out a script, left the store, sat in my front seat, scooted myself over to the right, felt a sharp pain in my lower back and lost ALL feeling from my waist down on my right side. The pain was unbearable. I went to the ER, than to my GP, than to pain mgt, than phy. therapy Pain mgt didnt work, phy therapy left me in worse shape then when I went in, had two MRI's , 3 doctors read them, clue less, finally a friend told me about their success with Dr. Reintjes. Made an apt that week, in a friday, he looked at the 2 MRI's and said you have a bone chip laying on your spinal cord, 3 others doctors didn't see this OMG, set up my sugery Tuesday morning and I walked out of Northland Hospital, PAINLESS, Wednesday afternoon. He is all business, he has years of experience, if you want someone to pant you on the head and spend an hour listening to you he isnt the surgeon for you, he does listen, gets the facts, investigates the data you gives him then makes his determination, he doesn't sugar coat it. I was back to work in 2 months.
He's a great surgeon I've had back surgery twice with him. Both times he completely fixed my pain/problem. It's not his fault my back problems change over the years. If you are pretending to have back problems you should see another Doctor.
I loved his methodology! Asked me what was 'going on' and when I referenced my MRI he said he had not yet viewed since he wanted me to share what I was feeling. I loved how he listened and probed and then went to view the MRI. Excellent rapport and seemed to have a very wry sense of humor. Surgery was great and he fix my back! Ultimately that was what we all want but feel happy that I know I had the absolute best neurosurgeon for me performing said surgery.
Worst bedside manner I've ever dealt with, came in threw my file on the table, never looked at my MRI. Said to get PT. Wouldn't entertain any questions, he was in and out in 2-3 min. After I was recommended there by my pain doc. I was told by a nurse that he likely wouldn't operate on me because I was overweight and that posed extra risks that he did not want to take. If you want a great surgeon who is also a great person see Dr Hylton-best bedside manner ever.
Dr. Reintjes performed my second back surgery. The difference between the two Doctors & the outcome of the surgeries was like night & day. I can't praise or recommend him enough. Thank you Dr. Reintjes, from the bottom of my heart, for giving me back my life!
My boyfriend recently had surgery on the 15th of may. He is already feeling better and highly recommends this surgeon to anyone. He has had this pain for over 2 years and not even a week later he is feeling great. He had a ruptured disk that 40% of it was in the spinal canal. Surgeon said it was the worst he has seen this year. He is getting around great! Thanks to him I will soon have him back and running around again.
This by far was the WORST experence I have EVER had with a Dr... I would not reccomend him to anyone, Arrogant and, rude! Did Not access any of my problems! I felt belitted and Anxious the whole time!
