Entrepreneur Dave Cummings and his wife, Jamie, have announced an $8 million grant to NKC Health to advance innovation and excellence in heart care.

This transformational gift will support facility expansion, state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and pioneering treatment programs, further positioning NKC Health as a regional leader in heart health.

"Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in America," Dave Cummings said. "Jamie and I are committed to ensuring that people in our community have access to world-class care right here at home."

The grant will:

  1. Enhance diagnostic capabilities – Implement AI-powered diagnostic systems for faster, more accurate evaluations, and acquire a new cardiac PET/CT scanner, advanced EKG technology and other leading-edge equipment.
  2. Increase patient access – Expand capacity to meet growing demand across the Kansas City region by recruiting additional world-class cardiologists and cardiac surgeons.
  3. Deepen collaboration through the Mayo Clinic Care Network – Accelerate integration of Mayo Clinic’s best practices, building on the recently announced agreement.

"This extraordinary gift from Dave and Jamie will have an immediate and lasting impact on the quality of cardiac care in our community," said Stephen Reintjes Sr., MD, president and CEO of NKC Health. "It will save lives for decades to come."

For Dave, the cause is deeply personal. Born at NKC Health, he underwent lifesaving heart bypass surgery there just one year ago.
