Rebrand FAQs

Our new brand

As healthcare and our community have changed, so have we. Multiple market surveys over the years have identified the opportunity for us to unify our brand as a health system. Most recently, one consumer survey highlighted that only 23% of our primary service area recognizes that Meritas Health is part of North Kansas City Hospital. As the Kansas City healthcare market changes (e.g., mergers, new regional and national players), it is important that we tell OUR story. This journey is all about reflecting who we are and where we're headed, so we can better care for our community, support growth and give people more healthcare options.

A unified brand simplifies and strengthens our identity — one brand, your trusted provider. Our goal is for the community to choose our breadth of services for all their healthcare needs — we are stronger together than apart. This united and integrated approach simplifies and streamlines the patient’s experience.

We chose NKC Health because we wanted a name that felt familiar but also reflected our evolution. Research validated that NKC Health is easy for people to say and remember, while also elevating perceptions of our organization. More specifically, we evolved from “North Kansas City” to “NKC Health” in order to be more inclusive of the areas we serve (and might serve in the future), and from “Hospital” to “Health” to emphasize that we are a comprehensive system focused on empowering better health outcomes for those we serve.

Our logo strikes a balance of innovation and humanity. Our primary color palette is warm and unique in our space, indicating there is something special that happens only here. Overall, the result is something unique yet familiar, that naturally draws people in, conveys modern excellence and embodies our ethos of “care empowered.”

Our new brand is more than a name or a logo — it’s a promise. It represents a renewed commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for every patient, family and community member we serve.

  • A clearer, more unified identity: Patients and families often interact with multiple parts of our health system — hospital, clinics, physician offices, outpatient services — and it hasn’t always been clear that we are one connected system. This new brand creates unity. It helps patients instantly recognize that whether they’re receiving care in our hospital, seeing a primary care provider or accessing specialty services, they are part of the same trusted system, receiving coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Builds trust and confidence: A strong, consistent brand signals stability, excellence and professionalism. It shows our communities that we are investing in the future of care, growing to meet their needs and proud of the people and purpose behind our work. This inspires confidence from the moment someone sees our signage, visits our website or walks into our buildings.
  • Centers the patient in every message: Our new brand is built around the experiences, voices and expectations of those we serve. Every element — from the tone of our messaging to the visual identity — reflects compassion, accessibility and quality. We’ve simplified the way we communicate, making it easier for people to find care, understand their options and feel supported throughout their health journey.
  • Reflects the progress we’ve made — and the future we’re building: This is a forward-looking brand. It honors the legacy of compassionate care that got us here, while boldly embracing innovation, digital access and modern patient expectations. Our brand reflects the care our teams deliver today and the health system we are becoming — one that’s inclusive, responsive and community-focused.

In short, our rebrand improves perceptions because it reflects who we truly are: a modern, compassionate, unified health system — deeply rooted in our community, driven by purpose and ready for the future.

Understanding the transition

While our name, logo and visuals are evolving, our commitment to compassion, teamwork and our community remains at the core of everything we do. Our aim is to strengthen our identity to better reflect our mission, values and commitment to exceptional healthcare while reinforcing patient trust. This transition will enhance how we connect with our community, and we’re excited to share the positive outcomes this change will bring. Below is an overview of what is changing.

Brand identity and visuals: We’re introducing a modern logo, color scheme and visual style to create a cohesive, welcoming presence. This includes updated signage, marketing materials and a refreshed website designed to be more user-friendly. This will take some time to implement and is part of our journey over the next 12-24 months.

Name and messaging: The health system name is NKC Health. Our messaging will emphasize innovation, patient-centered care and community connection.

Patient-facing materials: Brochures, appointment cards and digital interfaces will reflect the new brand aesthetic, improving clarity and accessibility for patients.

Internal and external communications: Email templates, newsletters and social media will adopt the new branding, ensuring a consistent, engaging tone that resonates with our community.

Your appointments won’t be impacted at all—everything is still right on track! We look forward to serving you soon.

Just to reassure you, there are no changes with your physician. Everything is staying the same. Our people are just as passionate and committed as always.

Joining the Mayo Clinic Care Network offers meaningful benefits to our patients and physicians and is another indication of our pursuit of excellence. However, it is not related to our brand evolution. NKC Health remains steadfastly independent. We have not been purchased nor have we merged with another organization.

Other than a new system name appearing on your bill over the next several weeks, your bill will be the same. We know how important consistency is when it comes to your healthcare, and you can feel confident that your billing will remain just as it is: clear, accurate and uninterrupted.

Yes, absolutely. All of our existing contracts with insurance companies remain in place, so you can continue receiving care without worry or interruption. The name may be changing, but your coverage and access to care are not.
