About Me

With three growing boys, most of my free time is dedicated to my family. As a result, most of the free time my wife and I share together is with our kids, either with their respective events, nearby hikes or enjoying all Kansas City has to offer. We enjoy an active lifestyle, usually traveling to places where we can explore new environments and cultures.

Care Philosophy

I genuinely believe in treating the whole person, so understanding the "why" behind a disease process rather than focusing exclusively on the management. Too often in medicine we may identify patients with the same disease process, yet the management may be unique to the individual based on what is driving the process, other medical comorbidities or patient preferences that make the treatment best tapered to the patient.

Area of Interest

From an early age, I always enjoyed the science of the human body. I truly felt the calling to help others in high school, at which time I dedicated my education toward a career in medicine. My initial interest was in pediatrics, and my early aspiration was to pursue a career in adult congenital heart disease. While I still am interested in congenital heart disease, my true passion in this field is preventive cardiovascular and metabolic health, with additional interests in cardiac imaging, cardio-oncology and heart disease in athletes.
I think there is something inherently poetic about the heart in that it is symbolic of life and vitality. Although nearly half of the population will experience some form of cardiovascular disease, one of the best aspects of my field is that, through clinical research, advancements in heart care are allowing us to treat patients more effectively and giving us opportunities to intervene early and still provide excellent outcomes, many times without significant alterations to quality of life or loss of functional independence.

Best Doctor Ever

Dr Wilt has amazing bedside manner. He listened to my concerns and was transparent and thorough. I left my appointment feeling confident about the plan of care. All of the staff, including the RN and MA were great, as well.

Dr Wilt was just how I expected. He was very knowledgeable and compassionate about the health of his patients. He took his time and listened and explained well. I would highly recommend Dr Wilt to anyone. The best by far.

I was very pleased with my appointment with Dr. Wilt and the staff. He made me feel so much much better about what I have going on (a-fib). I would highly recommend him.

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Wilt. He was very thorough and took time to understand my concerns. He also explained clearly what he thought would be best in terms of next steps and developed a plan which included both medication changes and testing to identify any underlying issues.

Dr. Wilt is exceptional. He takes the time and effort to inform, instruct, and construct a workable treatment plan. Very personable!

Dr. Wilt was very patient, described things in details even drawing pictures. He was respectful and kind. Very much appreciative. Said to come back in 6 months but they could not schedule that far out. That should be fixed, or they should document when to schedule YOU.

Dr Wilt was amazing. He listened to my concerns, addressed them and now my follow up appointment was all good news. Thank you Dr Wilt.

This is the second time I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Wilt and may I add his Nurse Kathy is amazing. Both seem to be a great match and I feel like when I am seen, I am the most important person in the building. He is kind, thoughtful LISTENS and doesn't try to build a big 'case' out of something that may be simple. I only wish that more doctors were like him. Both he and Kathy are simply wonderful. Highly recommend in the highest capacity. Thank you Dr. Wilt (and Kathy). Bless you both for bringing peace to a nervous patient.

Dr Wilt was able to pin point my blood pressure problem and spent a good deal of time explaining it. He is very knowledgeable in his field and friendly as well.

I've seen Dr. Wilt 3 times in the office and once for a procedure (TEE). He is an excellent doctor, incredibly thorough, knowledgeable and very caring. He always takes his time and explains everything. I have had other cardiologists in the past, and he is, hands down, the best. I'm in health care and have sent several of my patients to see him, and they all loved him!

A doctor who actually listens!!! Imagine that! Dr. Wilt is just awesome. He is great to talk to and does not rush you through the appointment. He takes time to listen, explain things and is extremely knowledgeable. As someone who has had his share of "doctors" since I have gotten older, Dr. Heath Wilt sets the bar very high in care provided. You could not do better!
