She genuinely wants to see her patients healthy and thriving. She will take her time with you to make you feel heard and not rushed. I truly appreciate Dr. Gemmell and all she has done for me in the past few years on my health journey, however, today was the 2nd time just this year (2025) I have had an appointment scheduled (first on Feb. 14th, 2025 and now April 18th, 2025) that has been canceled the DAY OF with less than 4 hours notice each time. I understand things happen, however, as an educator I do not get a lot of days off and I happened to schedule both appointments on days I had off from school. It is incredibly frustrating to have to deal with this and feel like I am getting no real justice. Each time I have to rsschedule it's another 2 or 3 months out I have to wait.
Dr Gemmell is always professional, thorough, and a genuinely nice person. She takes her time and always makes me comfortable. When my previous Medicare insurance plan informed me that Dr Gemmell would no longer be in network, I switched insurance so that I could keep her as my primary care physician!

I haven’t received the proper care since I’ve been here I will be switching my Dr they like to tell me what’s wrong instead of listening to me I’ve struggled with carpel tunnel for a year and it took for me to go to the er to get the answers I needed I just had an appointment mentioned it and nothing was said about it I’m over the entire place I don’t know if it’s a race thing or they just don’t like to listen to the patient either way I’m over it it’s been long over due for me to find a new dr they also didn’t sign my leave papers last year when I wasn’t well enough to go back to work and that’s how my hand became worse and now I have it in both hands I will get the proper care I need
I used to be with Dr. Stanley until he retired. I saw his replacement and while she was great, Dr. Gemmell is that much better! She used to only be the wife's dr. but now she is the family doctor. Had to see RPN McDaniels when Dr. Gemmel was out and she's great too! I love this office and their folks. Dr. Gemmel takes the time to listen to her patients, and explain everything like a great doctor does! I go out of my way if I get a different insurance to make sure I can continue to use this office and their amazing lineup of doctors and nurse practitioners, especially the two listed above. They know what they are doing. They know how to explain everything so no matter what level of medical understanding you have you can understand what is going on! Over the years throughout my military service included and meritas doctors in general these two especially are the best I've come across!

Update: I had my first Medicare Wellness exam with Dr. Gemmell and I still think she is great! Dr. Gemmell has a care factor at a level I have not seen in a long time, if ever. I hope to grow older with her as my PCM. I am very impressed with Dr. Gemmell. She and her staff are caring, considerate, and professional. I think what I appreciate the most is her humble attitude in her quest to determine an accurate diagnosis. Dr. Gemmell is awesome!

Dr. Ashley Gemmell is a true gem of a doctor. She is very thorough in her exam and allows me to ask a lot of questions. On my last visit yesterday, she didn't find pneumonia on the physical exam, but based on our discussion with my symptoms, she ordered an xray just to be sure. She called me later that evening and told me I had pneumonia. I am already doing better. Dr. Gemmell is the best doctor I've had.

While I adore Dr. Gemmell, this practice is simply not one I would recommend because of wait times. Yesterday, they made an appt for me but I was in so much abdominal pain I should have gone to urgent care. It took 2+ hrs for this appt. The first hour I had not even seen the doctor yet. Terribly unprofessional and disrespectful of people’s time. My husband had to bring me because I couldn’t drive myself there and he lost work time he had to make up well into the evening and we had a sick 10 year old at home alone who was waiting for us to get back home. So disappointing. Not only that, but the room we were sitting in was uncomfortably warm—like a sauna, in fact… If this were a true medical emergency, I would not be here to write this review. Bottom line, don’t overbook your patients and if you do, let them wait in comfort.
I didn’t feel a good Doctor patient relationship with this doctor. She always seemed overwhelmed. My first time meeting my doctor was in October. I said my back neck and leg was hurting.Upon telling her this she said something like let’s deal with one issue and we can look into the other at another visit. I wasn't sure what’s going on I was in extreme pain. Medication was offered and physical therapy and I asked for some time off Fmla. When my job sent the papers over, My job informed me they were never filled out. Later that month I had Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy. How am I supposed to trust someone with my health issues if they are taking lightly.
I have been a patient of Dr. Gemmell's for about 5 or 6 years, which by far exceeds the amount of time I have kept the same primary doctor. What I appreciate about her is that she has never rushed me through an appointment to get to her next patient. She takes the time to listen and walk through different options of care. Highly recommended.

First visit to Dr. Genmell , and she listened to me, she really seems to take me and my sickness serious, she didn't make me feel like I wasn't valued as a person or a patient, she took my needs and concerns serious , she wasn't trying to rush out the room., like I have experience with all the doctors I had been too and very patient with me, my nurse Kayla was so sweet and kind, she was patient with me, my X-ray tech Melissa was so sweet and kind, they all helped with easing some super anxiety I was feeling, and eas patient and didn't make a big deal out of my rambling due to feeling so anxious, so when I left the office,I was feeling more my self again. The check in a d check out receptionist were all so kind, and so friendly. I had to find a doc in my insurance group and Dr. Genmell kept popping up, but brushed it off ( I don't particularly care for women Dr as I have nothing but horrible experiences with them, I was looking for doctor that weren't working at certain hospitals, and when I finally seen hers ,it was at the hospital that is really good hospital, so I decided to take a chance and hopefully that she would take me as a patient and I am so glad I did, Not only is a great Doctor, she is a great female doctor, but staff there is so amazing. 100 % recommend.
My blood tests,from quest, was not back in time for the appointment. A review of my blood work was focus of the appointment. Scheduled to return in six months. To go over blood work that wasn't available last visit? Felt like a total waste of time and unnecessary charges to my insurance. Not necessarily Dr. Gemmell fault. My opinion of Dr. Gemmell herself is positive! I actually get the VIBE that she actually cares. She is direct but soft!

Like most people I don't like having to go to the doctor and this particular Dr is exactly why, treated me like I was some low life drug addict just trying to get pills from her, doubted every single thing I said, she stopped listening to me and just came to her own conclusion, she made me feel like somehow having seizures was my own fault, absolutely no compassion just cold and inattentive to everything I said, she's a perfect example of everything wrong with the medical system in this country

Checked in for a 10:30 appointment at 10:15. Called into the room at 10:35 where the nurse did the vitals check. Then waited until 11:55 to be seen by an unapologetic Dr. G. Totally unacceptable!!
My first visit so far and I have to say the ladies at the front desk were just so kind and so much fun! Had issues with my info saving into the computer and they were great about getting it squared away! Dr Gemmell was kind, attentive and listened to my concerns. The woman at the desk at the exit who scheduled my follow up appointment was also kind and sweet. So far I am impressed and glad I have decided on this office to go to for primary care.

Time w/ Dr. Gemmell as patient : 3Yrs 1st Impression: Not there to judge. Listens intently, makes you feel heard & cared for. Great job at starting treatment quickly for issues addressed. Knows when to work with specialists for their expertise, but also takes responsibility as the primary to her patient throughout. Each Visit/Experience: Feel more and more comfortable with her each time I visit, that’s a hard thing to accomplish with someone who does NOT enjoy Dr. visits at all. I could say a million fantastic things about Dr. Gemmell AND her awesome staff. Take this as your sign that she’s an amazing care provider. Don’t hesitate.

Dr Gemmel is one of the first doctors I've seen who has truly made me feel seen and and heard. She didn't try to rush me though our appointment despite being incredibly busy herself. She laid out several solutions and made sure we had a working medical plan in place to get me the help I needed/wanted. I so appreciated her gentle and kind deminor. It felt so good to walk away from a Dr's appointment feeling confident for the first time.
Dr Gemmell has no empathy when it comes to auto immune disorders. She tries to throw the responsibility onto other drs instead of being primary likes she's supposed to be. She doesn't understand how FMLA works and if a patient has been getting it for (years) for something without a cure She denies it to you and pushes it off on other doctors. I do not recommend unless you have nothing wrong with you.
Have seen Ashley Gemmell once, I was ready to tackle my health questions and finally have an answer to why they were changing everything my previous doctor of 20 years help me (who retired) to establish. I said Um, what are you familiar with in my chart as I don't want to take up to much time rehashing what you already many know. I believe her when she says "look I have 79 patients I don't have time to read yours or everyone's chart. I don't know anything about except your name. So... She looked and acted perturbed. That day all she learned and maybe already forgot was my name.

While seeing her, I feel like we are a team trying to solve my particular issues instead of her just pushing a treatment plan on me and sending me on my way. Dr Gemmell is a caring, thorough, and conscientious care provider. She listens and follows up with whatever is going on. If you do have to wait it is because she is giving that personal attention to someone else. I really appreciated when my family member needed that extra time she didn’t brush us off and push us through.

My elderly mother switched doctors to Dr. Gemmel but because of COVID pandemic, my mother hadn't seen the doctor yet when she had a stroke! Now my mother has been discharged from SNF and requires home health and Dr Gemmel isn't signing off on the home health because my mother hasn't been seen by her yet and can't get her into the office for 30 days!!!! Literally denying a stroke victim badly needed care!
After a total of 3 visits, I am never going back to Dr. Gemmell or Meritas Briarcliff. The first visit, I waited an hour to be seen. Gemmell was hidden behind her rolling computer cart when she came in, no explanations, no introduction, nothing. It was a long, cold appt, but I got what I needed. Second appt, I had to wait 30 minutes and she was still hidden behind her rolling computer cart and not personable but she seemed genuinely interested in my health. Got what I needed, left. URGENT CALL to OFFICE due to C-19 symptoms (despite vaccination). I left a message with the triage nurse. It's been 3 weeks and still, no one's called me back. Had to go to an Urgent Care 24 hours after no return call. The third appt was already scheduled - a follow up re: a specialist visit + an annual wellness exam. I waited 45 minutes and finally just walked out. My time isn't respected and GET THIS! I was asked upon arrival to sign a sheet stating I'd self pay if my insurance didn't cover this visit bc this was not a routine visit - though it's an annual wellness exam. The front desk staff has no personality or warmth. Go some place else if you want to both feel and be cared for.
Gemmell doesn't impress me at all, in fact she seems paranoid & untrusting. My insurance changed so I had to find another doctor, so for the time being I am stuck with Gemmell. Unlike my previous doctor did, Gemmell pawns me off to a specialist for every little problem that may come my way, & I have to pay a high co-pay. I thought Gemmell was suppose to be a doctor.

I like Dr. Gemmel for my doctor. However the front desk staff is horrible. They can not keep the scheduling together. I have on more than one occasion been given the wrong appointment. One staff persons blurted out my personal business over the microphone to the entire waiting room. The front desk staff can be rude also. Therefore I am leaving and seeking another office and doctor

Dr. Ashley Gemmell is a great doctor but her front office personnel is rude and not caring at all they place you on long holds and transfer you to any line not the doctor you requested also the nurses fail to call back with results from testing so you have to call the office deal with the rude front office staff.
She is wonderful. If you have to wait, I know it’s because she is listening to someone fully and trying to help them get to a better place. I’m more than happy to wait for the opportunity to be in her care. All my issues were addressed and I am a healthier person due to her thorough approach.
One can always expect Dr. Gemmell to be running late, by no more than 50 to 55 minutes, so bring a good book with you to read while you are waiting. Dr. Gemmell either has trust issues, or she just flat out refuses to listen to a patient. One can tell her something, & she will start questioning them like she does not believe a word they have said, then she will prescribe the exact opposite treatment plan. Dr. Gimmell has a snobbish & arrogant attitude about her. She really needs to lighten up!
The office staff is very arrogant and rude. In addition, Dr. Gemmell has a very arrogant attitude even if she has practiced medicine for a few years. I am leaving her office and finding another provider altogether. She makes primary care providers look bad.
Dr. Gemmell comes off as being nice, but she just does not have the experience, nor does she "listen" to the patient. For someone who has been in practice for no longer than she has, she sure has an arrogant attitude. I have been to her about 5 times, and I am going to find another doctor. I have had enough!

Dr. Gemmell is very professional, respectful and kind. She cares about you as a person in addition to your physical health. As a transgender person this is especially important to me. She is quite knowledgeable and takes more care than I do about my lab levels even. Lol, I love her.
