Life has changed quite a bit lately, and everyone’s adjusting. If all the home-based eating, working and learning makes your head spin, you’re not alone. Remember to make some “me” time.

Taking care of yourself reenergizes your mind, body and spirit so you can continue taking care of others.

Self-Care Suggestions

  • Stick as close as possible to your normal routine: Get up at the same time every day, shower and get dressed
  • Try these instant pick-me-ups: Put on a little makeup (if you typically wear it), and fix your hair
  • Tune out the 24/7 news cycle; instead, feed your mind something lighthearted and fun, even if it’s just reading memes and watching Tik Tok videos with your kids
  • Get regular exercise; movement is good for your physical and mental health
  • Get outside often: Take walks, do some yard work or bathe the dog (all with social distancing)
  • Eat healthy, but indulge in your fave comfort foods, too; everything in moderation
  • Get at least seven hours of sleep every night
  • Keep your social life going via video chat, text, email and snail mail
  • Start a gratitude journal

If you’re feeling sad or anxious right now, that’s OK. It’s normal. But, those feelings shouldn’t last a long time. If they do, or if they keep you from enjoying daily activities, you could be depressed. Depression may not be preventable, but it is treatable.
