We are committed to using state-of-the-art treatments to care for our patients. Our Women’s Imaging Center has expanded its technology with an upright stereotactic breast biopsy guidance system. Because it attaches to a 3D mammography machine, radiologists gain the ability to pinpoint subtle suspicious areas and diagnose some breast cancers earlier. “When breast cancer is detected early and is localized, the five-year survival rate is 99%,” said Christopher Formen, MD, a radiologist with Northland Radiology. The new technology gives patients the option to sit upright or rest on their sides, which reduces the discomfort and duration of the procedure.
